Traditionally a Shepherd's Hut was used during lambing season as a shelter from the elements. It would have been a small, functional space that was able to be towed by horses to remote field locations and usually built with whatever materials the farmer had available at the time. The shepherd could keep a keen eye on his flock from the hut, which provided him with the basic essentials; a place to, stay warm, cook and dine, grab a cuppa and lay his head down. Other iterations of these types of portable living spaces include the Showman's, Gypsy and Roadman's Wagons.
Shepherds Huts have many uses in our modern world. From home office, artist and craft workshop, yoga or workout studio, fishing bothy, hunting lodge, children's playroom or as extra accommodation for visiting relatives, returning students, or even paying guests.
With the above in mind, our aim is to provide high quality, hand crafted huts and cabins for use all year round. Inspired by the tradition, built using modern techniques and materials. With all the luxuries and modern conveniences! Whatever you're after we can create the ultimate hut for you.

It depends on how you intend to use your hut. If it is for personal use you won’t typically need planning as this is concidered incidental use and permitted development. If you plan to let your hut out this may need a chance of use, or full planning permission but It’s always a good idea to check with your local authority if you are unsure.

All our huts are completely handbuilt from scratch. Build times can vary due to a number of factors. To give a good idea, one of our standard size huts fully equipped with bed area, mini kitchen and shower room and woodburner usually takes around 10-12 weeks to construct. Get in touch with us today to discuss a build start date, or find out if we have a show hut for sale for quicker delivery!

We use local haulage companies to deliver our huts all over the Highlands and Islands. A hut is loaded onto the back of a HIAB crane truck, If access is no issue your hut is usually able to be unloaded exactly where you want it! However, we understand that this isn’t always the case, the view you may want to place your hut in maybe doesn’t have a road to it! We have delivered huts to some pretty gnarly spots over the years and can find a solution, or advise your local groundworker on how to proceed. Where there’s a will, there’s usually a way!

This is dependant on what sort of finish and layout you are after, our starting price is £29,250 but if you want ‘the works’ you’ll be looking around £36,000-£38,000 + delivery.
We always want to offer our customers the best possible price so please get in touch with us and we can tailor a quote to your needs.
There may also be other costs to concider, like ground works and servicing the hut if you want it on-grid.
